So, I'm not tragicly Tramatized that he died (Like some people get), but I'm very dissapointed. I dont have a water test kit, but it all seems in order. When I pulled him out, and brought him to the....erm.....torlet (Thats how I pronounce it, but I think its spelt Toilet), I just noticed his eyes were white. I dont know if theirs was any fuzz anywhere (I Checked, but only once,so I might have missed it), but I didn't see any. I think he might just pasted away of either lonelyness (He lived with one Black Phantom, About quorter the size of him) or he just died of old age. From physical appearence the tank looked fine. The tetra was alive and acting normal, so that lead me to believe he died of...erm .....natural causes.

(PS. I leave for denver tonight, so if there is something wrong, I wont have a chance to fix it :/ )

First of all, don't dispose of fish - whether dead or alive - by flushing. Throw them in your bin instead. Otherwise, you may be introducing pathogens into wild waterways. Our aquarium fish might be quite resistant to these but most wild fish are more severely affected and you can actualy cause some serious problems for wild fish populations or animals that they prey on or that prey on them.

Anyway, too late now. I just wanted to say that it wasn't lonliness and it probably wasn't old age as they can live to 7 years old (well the lucky ones can but they are unfortunately very prone to disease). Clouded eyes are a sign of bad water quality. I'm not sure if it's too late to say this but do a water change as soon as you can and test your water. Black phantoms are much hardier than dwarf gouramies BTW. You can't compare the two as far as the effects of disease/stress go. The tetra may not show a single sign while the gourami suffers from dropsy or whatever and dies.
