ive had her about 3 weeks now and although she has grown, she has not filled out. her ventral fins look quite long and ive suspected that she is in fact a he. what do you rekon? she does have an egg spot, but then so do some males. i tried showing her a mirror but she ignored her reflection. ive never seen her flare at anything at all. long anal fin and long ventrals. its not clear in the pics where her ventrals come to as she holds them along her body for the most part. (she ruddy difficult to photograph too!)

is she in with other girls? if so how does she act around them? i'm thinking just a long fined girl but could easily be wrong, i have a female with long ventals, and a male with shorter ones

she is not with any other betta. she used to be in with my pk female when i first got her but my pk beat her up so she is in with my young platys. if i show her another betta (male of female) she hides

Looks like a female to me. Since she has an egg spot and is a bit chubby, also her fins aren't long enough to be a male's imho.

her fins are longer than my pk males. obviously her dorsal will be anyway, being a dt. egg spt dont mean anything, ive seen quite a few males with egg spots, my pk male had one when i first got him. hmmm, il just have to feed her up more and see how fat she gets :hyper:

She (im 80% convinced) looks very very similar to my DT girl, all fins are a bit different in a DT

I'm going to say female. I see her ovipositor, so yeah. Girl.
Saying that you've had a few boys with ovipositors is like saying you've had a few boys with vaginas. That would be a girl fish. :)

No males can have a false ovipositor, some are 'malformed' as it were

If it's there, how is it false? Not trying to be rude, just curious.
Because alot of females can flare, blow bubble nests, show typical 'male' behaviour, have long ventrals, etc etc..

Definitely a girl. Just one with especially long and beautiful fins! :D

Males (usually young ones) can have a white spot at the vent, which is actually an extension of the rectum rather than an ovipositor... I think that's what zoekin8yg is talking about?

Definitely looks female to me.
The body of your gal resembles my Afia alot.. body shape and all that.
