My Diy Sponge Filter

Hi after some thought I put together a filter like the one in the pinned thread. I used gravel out my tank so there was already some bacteria there. I also used a piece of plastic mesh like stuff to seperate my gravel from some carbon. Because it is a clear bottle you can actually see it working. What do you think?

A pop bottle its a good idea for hospital or breeding tanks, its fantastic the things people come up with for there hobbie.

Just to say for anyone that was unsure it works perfectly. I can already see lots of gunge caught in the sponge.

What else was done to put this together, Is that a sponge or like the polyester filter foam stuff?? Is there a pump to it to add the water in?? A bit confused but it looks pretty good.. Also what size tank do you have this running in??

Look at the pinned topic(at the top of the page) mine is basically the same thing. The sponge is just normal sponge and it is run with an airstone and airpump. Mine is in about a Five gallon.
