My Pearl Pigeon (apparently, I now know is a female) paired of with my Blue Body, Red Leopard and has layed eggs.

I watched them spawn tonight. I don't know if the male is mature enough to fertilize the eggs or not, but they are acting very protective of the eggs, chasing away anybody who come near. the male even keeps pushing back a sword leaf that leans toward the eggs ...lol.

I doubt they will have success this first time around in this semi-community tank. But now that I know they are a couple, perhaps I'll move them into a breeding tank.

They're great fish, congrats on the spawning.

Also your avatar pic's great, looks a bit like my apisto when he was a nipper!

Unfortunately...as expected, they ate the eggs.

I don't think they got properly fertilized as they turned opaque white.

Better luck next time I guess.

Normally the first patch is always a fail anyways.

Keep em fed well and as they grow and spawn a few more times they will become better parents :good:

Oh boy are they well fed, these guys eat like pigs.

Anytime I walk anywhere near the tank, they rush up to glass and stare at me with that "FOOD, PLEASE" look on their face.
