My denisons barb is sick. This fish has gained the least weight of all the 5 barbs I bought. Perhaps this fish has been sick for a while, but it has been subtle. He has a slight brownish tint to his scales that the other barbs don’t have. Since having to treat the tank for camallanus worms 3 weeks ago , this fish has not been eating much , but when I feed blood worms he does eat.

Just now I noticed he is in bad shape, seems to be having a bit of trouble staying upright, very nervous, and not moving much at all. He has not gone upside down but is just constantly readjusting to stay upright, if that makes sense…

I am not sure what to do with this fish...

sorry forgot water stats:
amm niti 0
nitrate 8
pH 7.6 (usually 7.2 ....)
kh=95
25.5C

Even though you used a very hard med to cure the internal parasites, sometimes the damage has already been done, it sounds like swim bladder desease. As internal parasites destroy the organs of the fish.

Yes, this is what I feared, I feel rather helpless....Any use in using antibiotics? I have read that after the worm treatment that secondary internal infections are common, perhaps antibiotics could help...?

Well you could try in issolation, but i doubt they will work if the organs are failing.

Wouldn't she/he been able to save the fish by dipping the food into those vitamin gels?

What do you mean? Vitamins? I am not a fish expert however, I know that once organs are damaged vitamins are way too late....

Is this to increase appetite or to increase the micronutrient value of the food?
