Hi all,

i've got a couple of queries about two of my species of fish.....

Firstly my pair of clownfish are hanging around my hammer alot recently, so i've assumed that this is what they are currently hosting.
However the past few days i've seen the female 'sucking' on some of the tentacles of the hammer. she seems to take one into her mouth 'suck' on it for a bit then let go?
any ideas why she's doing this?

Secondly, my yellow bean gobies have decided that its a fun game to sit on the mouths of my catalaphylia. are they in as much danger as i'm thinking they are in?
The cats tentacles are pretty sticky and attach to me very easily, so i'm assuming one bad move from the little goby and its curtains!

all views much appreciated!

Rob

I have heard of Clowns sucking the tenticals of anemonies, so I suppose it is natural.

Oh heck, have those gobies got a death wish! Like you I would be worried, be really interested to hear if anyone has any experiences of cats taking a goby for a meal

at least you will be able t keep acros if the cat gets hungry!

My cat eats quite large chunks of prawns so its deffinatly possible. Yours is bigger than mine too

Wow that's insane. The only thing I can think is that maybe the goby is confused and thinks its a clownfish and has started mimicking them.

I hope it doesn't get eaten by it !

its really weird.
only one of the pair seems to be doing it. he tends to hang around on the edge of the tentacles then dashes through a gap and sits on the flesh.

my cat eats large lumps of prawn, squid and mussel, so to eat the goby would be easy!
the cat however doesn't seem to react to being sat on.

My female perc regularly mouthed and even tugged off a few tips on my ancora hammer... i lost it eventually in a die off i had a few months back due to bad water getting into the tank..my own fault !!
Great pic there too..would think your cat would happily have it as a snack too and have heard of them eating from shrimp up to a clown before now.

ok so the goby in the Cat, now does appear to be hosting it!
it glides through the tentacles of the Cat without a second thought and the Catalaphyllia doesn't stick to him at all.
Now i know my Cat's tentacles are ridiculously sticky cos whenever i stick my hand anywhere near i end up attached to it!

has anyone ever come across a goby hosting a catalaphylia before?
