Hi, I bought 2 dwarf platies--one is constantly swimming around with a long string of poo (sometimes white, sometimes dark). It's really gross--he eats like a pig and is very active. I am so afraid he has something and will infect my whole tank of fish I've had for years. Anyone know if this is a sign of disease?

from what i have learned from the wise owls on here :) the white poo could be to do with his diet , what do you feed him and how often

Same thing as the others get--tropical flakes and I drop pellets in and always keep zucchini in tank for the cories and ottos but I've seen him nibbling away at it. My other dwarf platy is fine--but he does not eat the zucchini.

White stringy poo can be constipation, internal parasites, to bacteria infection.
There diet is poor so get them on some frozen foods and veg.
For now cooked some frozen peas in the microwave for a few minutes, let them cool down, pop out of shell, mush between fingers and add to the tank.

what do you mean, "their diet is poor"? I buy the best flakes, keep cooked zucchini in the tank, drop in pellets, and have live plants in there. Ocassionally they get frozen brine shrimp. That's a poor diet? I've had a thriving tank of the same fish for a couple of years now.
