Sorry, I'm at work now so I can't quote water chemistry off the top of my head, but...
The first sign of trouble was one of my Corys was sitting on the bottom of the tank crooked. I looked closely and realized his Pelvic fin was only a stub. Over the next week or so both he and the other Cory showed fin erosion, with little nips taken out of their dorsal fin and tail, and these weird clearish-white "streamers" coming off the fins which moved in the current.
I was concerned it was fungal fin rot. I went to the LFS, and they said it was likely a combination of a not-fully cycled tank (the tank still had some nitrite in it) as well as rough gravel possibly scraping their fins away. They also said the streamers I saw were probably just the slime coat coming off of the eroded fin.
I decided to move them to my other tank, which was fully cycled and didn't have rough gravel in it The tank has a very low PH (6 most of the time) but I can't see much I can do about that.
The erosion has continued. One is now missing almost their entire pectoral fin on one side. A new cory I've introduced doesn't have any erosion yet, but he has the same "streamers" coming off of his fins on both sides. No other fish in either tank have shown any fin erosion besides the Corys. The Cory's seem fine besides the obvious swimming problems...still look healthy, still eat, etc.
Any ideas?
