Ramesses....King of Egyptian pharoahs.
I know most peolpe think of blue rams as the beautiful peaceful dwarf chiclids they are,but then once again, they have not met my "killer" couple.

Well, let's just start from the begining so you would understand better.................So I brought these two from my LFS,a beautiful male and a little female,I placed them inside my 55 gallon community tank, hopping they might one day surprise me and lay some eggs.Boy,was I ever surprise! .
Two hours in the tank and they claimed ownership. All fish that went by deserved a bite from either one.My poor sailfin pleco three, four times bigger was being chased all over the fish tank. The situation got so bad in the first week,I had to remove them to a smaller 20 gal tank. There they chased and killed two of my sailfin mollies, and a beautiful chocolate pleco.
It was clear to me that it would be better if I kept them appart from the rest of my fishies.
This picture shows the happy couple eating at the surface

Here you can see the couple just happy swimming around

At one point I had some major problems with algae and I finally decided to add an algae eater, just to see how they would react. Not a good idea..........

What you can't see here is Juanchito attacking the plastic bag, once the fish was let free, they both started to chase it all over the tank. The poor fellow didn't last for more than four days :( .

So have you removed them now or taken them back? surely its not worth sacrificing your whole tank for these fish.

When my kribensis started attacking my zebra danios i took them out straight away. Both species are now rehoused into my big 50G tank and get along great :)

Well,to answer your questions yes,I did keep the ramis.I figure if they are so good defending a territory, they must be excellent parents. And they are.On their only fourth try they made me a grandad :kana: .
I must say though, they're by themselves now.The only thing they allow with them is a pair of bamboo shrimps.Donno why,but anything else is killed.
This is the only picture I have of the male taking care of its babies. They are almost impossible to spot;Just look under him,and between the gravel you would see a few of the youngsters.

All of the babies were lost,so I decided to change the fish tank a bit.Gravel became black sand.Out with the pink/white rocks and in with driftwood, and I also improved the lighting.

This last picture is of the male in front of one of the corys I had to rescue from the couple

columbian rams? was this a mistake? They look like german blue rams to me.. and I could not find ANYTHING under columbian rams.

They are very beautiful. Look like mine, except mine aren't so mean. Did you get any babies yet?

They are native to Colombia and Venezuela.

Beautiful fish! Too bad they're homicidal. They make up for it with great looks.
