I know it's not all that to look at like many others have at home, whether their theme is a seabed or lakebed theme—the coral & reef look or whatever the bottom of a lake looks like. Ya know the saying... "Someone else always has something better than mine." I just wanted a middle-ages Celtic forest look.

This is the best I can come up with for now. At 46 gallons, the tank still isn't big enough. I still have to play around with it. I don't have a background for it yet `cos I have not seen anything but what you'd see at the bottom of the oceans and lakes. I just wanna simple background of a forest, but no one makes any. :/ Guess I'll make my own. :D

thats a pretty cool idea, cant wait until you are totally done with it^^

has anyone ever thought to do that though? make the aquascape look like its actually on land and with crystal clear water, the fish will look like flying birds ;o

me and my imagination xD

Filipe Oliveira has done it!

Okay—now that's just awesome! Blows mine away. Exactly where can I get those non-toxic plastic trees and such at? Since I've been told unless they're made specificly for aquariums, then they're deadly for fish. That tree looks quite real.

Thanks!

I always liked Celtic land scenes, such as Scotland. The picture below that dave has posted just makes mine look silly, but at least I like my bridge and the amber-copper rocks and driftwood, and the black gravel makes it stand out better than any other colored gravel, I think.

Yeah, birds or flying fish is what entered my mind, too, for this theme of mine.

One other thing I like is that live Wisteria plant which looks like a pine-needle tree, and the current is making it look like the wind is blowing. Too cool. B)

you can totally make your own background. its very easy. i made my with poster board and clippings from magazines of different fish. cut and paste. thats it. if you look up poison dart frogs a lot of those guys mold their own backgrounds and its awesome. you could get some ideas from them.

I found this online. It covers my enitre 19in widescreen monitor, and it shows up pretty sharp as a wallpaper. So all I need to do is figure out how to print it out to be as big as the rear of my aquarium, and still be sharp looking. What'cha all think of this backround?

I dunno what happened to the picture. I'll have to try to put it back in here later on tonight. I have to go to church. bbl

The tree is real in that the trunk and branches are made from various small pieces of wood, and the leaves are java moss (Taxiphyllum barbieri). The grass is Eleocharis `parvula`.

Here's the picture I'm gonna try to print into the size of my aqaurium, and tape it to the back; but eventually I'll be getting a 70g tank. I don't think I need a bigger tank that in my room.

your tank is looking good, that background will be great if you can get it printed up big enough

xXx

Thanks!

I'm thinking about going to black sand, then it will be more dense and less gaps than gravel, so it'll look a bit more realistic. Only thing is, I don't guess there's such places in the world that has black sand, soil or dirt with trees, grass, flowers and plants growing in them; but then it doesn't matter—`cos this is a fishtank.

In the beginning, a couple months ago, when I had a 55G, I started out in mind to have an ancient Babylon theme, since I'm very much into Biblical prophecy of what happened in Biblical times, (and of course what will happen soon, but a modern prophecy theme would look horrible for an aqaurium, I'm sure); but no one anywhere had anything of Babylonian ornaments. The closest I could find was ancient Egyptian stuff.

Well, after a week, I had to take it all back, mainly `cos nothing was working right, such as the filter-pump—(they sold me a defected one), and the pet store (PetCo) gave me a hard time over it when I returned them all, and so I didn't wanna buy another tank from them again, at least not until all the employees there quit. So I gave up looking for Babylonian ornaments and found this 46G bow at another PS, and decided to have the middle-ages Celtic look.

As soon as I can get things together, such as fix my car, I'm getting a 70G (flat glass, instead of a bow), and give it an even more realistic looking Celtic village. I somehow need to connect each end of that bridge to something, at least one end. Maybe pile up a bunch of black sand and fill it with grass, but doing that on both sides would be best. Oh no—more weight. :/
