Well, I got my camera working. That in itself is reason for me to be happy.

Anyway, this is what I found today. The LFs had a tank with lots of white betta jueveniles-- males and female. The males were flaring at each other, but I guess they were too small to do any real damage . . . anyway, here's the one I bought.

Can someone help me here? I have NO IDEA if this is a male or a female-- I think it is a double tail, but it might be a tear. A few of the others had DT looking tails as well. I might go back to buy 1 or 2 more. :D

Right now he's in a 5 gal with my tiny fish. I plan to raise him here until he gets bigger-- he's WAY puny.

This photo shows him with a microrasbora to show you how smal he is. The rasbora is about half an inch long.

Congratulation on your new Betta. He is so small and cute.

I just bought one a week ago and i couldn't be happier because he's so beautiful.

I think you have a female.. Im not sure but the Betta guru's can tell you.

Hi,

He/She is adorable.

Can't tell as yet, needs to mature a little to be sure, but it sure is a squat little beauty.

PS How'd it go with TSAE.

awww,he's dreamy. I think it's a young male personally. Can you get a close up out of the bag?

I'm guessing it's a male also, but that's just a guess. We'd have to see if he/she has an "egg spot". So a close up would help a lot!! Also - that is a true doubletail, see how the length of the dorsal is equal to the anal? That's a characteristic of DTs. Congrats on your beautiful new baby.

Thanks guys for all the comments and especially the help! I'm so glad its a true DT and not a rip. :D

I'll just refer to it as "him" until I know for sure.

I'm personally hoping he's a short-fin too, as I love the short fins. Anyway, I'll try to get a better pic but he's so small my camera doesn't focus on him well.

I was watching him eat a algae wafer with my pygmy cories when I realized-- the pygmy cories ARE BIGGER HIM.

Hahaha he looks like a wee fluffy moth

or is that just me being weird?

either way, he's adorable, congrats tear-scar. make sure those pygmy cories don't gobble him up. ;)

Haha- yeah; actually, I bought a 1.5 gallon tank that is just beautiful (rimless tank, all glass with round edges) and a 7w light. It's going to be a planted filterless beauty when I'm done. :sly:

It'll be a grow out that will eventually turn into a sparkling gourami tank when he gets bigger.

psgill00-- I couldn't keep 'em all, but the LFs gave me a lot of credit. I still have 3 and they're great; clean my hand whenever I stick it in their tank.
