My Brother's Tank's Kh Reading Is 17! Is This Really High?

Hi everyone

My brother's tank's KH reading is 17! is this really high?! The tank is a mostly african cichlids.

I also don't know how high his pH is, as I know his add quite abit of pH up, but I only havea mid range pH test kit, so it's only showing 7.4 but I'm pretty sure it's higher than that.
but we tested the KH hardness today and its 17! My brother also used stuff to raise it, but the other day it was fine. Does this level needs to come down? and how do you bring it down?

Dont add any more stuff! Only use PH up or water hardeners when your levels have dropped significantly from their norm... I dont think its something you should be doing on a regular basis!
