My Bristlenose Catfish

I had seen so many topics about Theese lil fellas,
And they allways mentioned how they are out feeding during the day and mine never seemed to do it.

Well I originally saved him from my work place as they no longer wanted the cute fella,
so I took him and quickly mooved him into a tank not the best but was okay,
and Very quickly drawn into the world of fish (more than normal)
and saw on this site people planted tanks and instantly was in awe so I decided to set my own up
(see my journal link if curious)

now this was up an running for a LONG time because I was ocnstantly messing about and learning,
plus to scared to move him in,
but had no choice when my new tank + turtles arrived

in his original tank he would only come out at night, I assume he never felt safe.
The day I moved him into my planted tank he went absolutle barny,
Sucking the glass like crazy and my tetras seemed much happier.

I put some cucumber in earlier for him to eat not expecting him to eat untill Later tonight at lights out,
But he flew at it,
I started to record but he jumped as I got close,
So I have to sit at the tank waiting for him to come out and I could record him in action,


the video is only 2 min long or maybe less,
and quality is not superb as its from my phone.

good video. i've said this before but i have a bn plec who never comes out of his cave. i have NEVER seen him eat but as he's still alive i presume he does!! i'm always interested in seeing other peoples bn plecs cos i never see my own lol.

we used to have a plec and he was massive but you only used to catch site of him if you surprised him!



good video by the way. I got 3 african land snails and they love cucumber...I got landed with them....

So last night i had a damn close call,
Only recently has he been so happy/active

about 11pm (normally sleeping by then but couldnt due to nerves with my MRI scan coming up)
I was tired but trying to sleep,
I started to hear some noise from my tank
and my catfish had his tail poking out the water and ran over fast to see whats going on,
turned the light on and his got stuck between my condensation sheet and the glass.

before I could react his feel 3 ft roughly to the floor, I grabbed my ca threw her out,
ran out the room looking for my net, Typically couldnt find it,
and didnt want to pick him up with my hands as suckers and a nightmare to grab.
managed to get him up with some paper after he wiggled on,
got him in the tank he sunk down and just wouldnt move, (he was breathing tho)
got up this morning and still he was in the same place,
a quick tap and he was off under his log

and sucking away as normal

My legs were like jelly running around like mad but managed to keep my head in place...
I now have socks wrapped around where he escaped lol
