While they may attack smaller shrimp in an attempt to establish dominance (and are incompatible with arrow crabs), they rarely attack anything else. They simply do not have the technique to kill hermit crabs.
If they are ripping open coral to feed on it's food stores, I think this may be saying something about the keeper. Such as, "it was so hungry that it had to tear open a coral". They will feed on suspended matter above all else (like puffers and triggers), so make sure it is getting enough of this.
As to being "intolerant to triggers and wrasses", this really depends on the species. Coral banded shrimps are highly capable of defending themselves (any aquarist who has been pinched by one while cleaning a tank will realize this). I once kept one with three juvenile foot-long Gymnothorax morays for some time, and the morays never touched it. This was after they annihilated my hawkfish and mollies.
Certainly the "pelagic" triggerfishes wouldn't attack a Stenopus, and even the "benthic" triggers and large wrasses would have a hell of a time doing so. In addition, Stenopus are known cleaners, so this would grant them further immunity. I would expect coral banded shrimps to be fairly high on the "compatibility rating".
