My Bogwood Isn't Leaching Any Color

Hey all! I picked up some bogwood today and started leaching it in very hot water. I change the water every once in a while but I noticed that no color is coming out, just a very dense fog. Is this right?

Hello mate. I found that some bog wood is pre-treated so it doesn't give off that much colour where as others haven't and it took days of constant boiling & cooling to get the dye out. If there is no dye coming out which it doesnt harm fish anyway & some actually like it & the water is pretty clear then I would think your good to go ..... I did & touch wood no problems!! .

Are you sure it's bogwood? I recently got a piece of what the shop said was mangrove root, which looks just like bogwood. The woman in the shop said it doesn't need soaking as it doesn't turn the water brown, so I scrubbed it clean and put it straight in the tank. And she was right, no trace of brown after 3 weeks.

The store owner said that it was african bogwood and that it would need a few weeks to soak.

I think it is starting to get a yellow tint after a day of soaking.
