I have one small, 5g planted tank with 3 female and one male bettas. I put them to it 5 days ago and male made a bubbling nest second day after they were introduced to it. I came home 30 mins ago and noticed him and her below the nest in the love dance. Eggs are falling like snow and he is blowing them into the nest.
What should I do now?
I read some breeding articles but they are all specific for one who wants to breed them on purpose in separate spwning tanks. What is going to happen if I leave them intact in this 4 bettas tank?

Advice me please.

Sorry cant advise you I keep bettas but in separate tanks. Why did you have them in one tank?
Perhaps someone else will help.

it's not too common with bettas but there can be a chance of them eating the eggs. but since your setup is like this you shouldn't have a problem. you wouldn't be able to move the eggs safely anyway.

congrdulations. are you going to sell your babies? i am about to pm you something :good:

i think he is pretty lucky. it took me about 3 hours to get my male and female to be nice to each other. they were doing good until this bulb i got at walmart overgrow the 3 gallon and it eventually killed the female

damn. I don't know what to do now. I have another heavily planted tank but I don't think I can put females tehre because there are 10 tiger barbs in it along with corys and ancistrus.
And it is Sunday ffs. Can't buy a bowl to separate tehm.

The males get very protective of their eggs, if you don't want to wind up with 3 dead females you should remove them and let the male do his thing. Do you have somewhere for the fry to grow out, at least 10 gallons? preferably 20+, do you have live bbs or microworms to feed the babies etc. Breeding bettas is a HUGE undertaking!

I didn't plan to breed them at all. Didn't know much about them, except that the guy at local fish store told us that it is good to keep the male with couple of females so he doesn't pick on one too much. From what I read now it is a big mess up.
Can I remove the male tomorrow and separate him?
Would it cause stress on him considering he knows that the eggs are in the bubbles?

i MAY know someone that could help with this.

puddle inc breeders. i have tons of bbs i can sell you for real cheap. cheaper then usual. and i may know someone that could buy some of your babies to help giv you more room. i'll see what i can do to help you out with this. :good:

I had to remove the female because other two females started to pick on her. Probably because she is exausted from breeding. I put her into a glass jar till tomorrow. I knew that i shouldn't trust the lfs but I had the good experience with them before and mostly they wre right.
I will try to save the siuation-.

Many people seem to find themselves in this predicament due to poor advice from an lfs, and it is in no way your fault. The male will stress, but he will get over it. If you don't have the facilities to raise the fry it would be best if you didn't. You're best bet is to remove him. Hope I helped, lol :good:

puddle, he lives in Croatia. that's in Eastern Europe. i don't think that your bbs cultures are really a good option for this guy. ;)

Soho, if they haven't fought now then things can wait until Monday. just get a nice 5-10 gallon tank and set it up for the females--if you get the 10g then you can even get 2 or 3 *more* females to go with the ones you already have :D
