Here we go...

Went to P@H about half a month ago and got myself a betta, I felt sorry for him as he was stuck in a tank with another male and he had been beaten up really badly. So I took him home and put him in my Small tank and he was swimming and eating happily for about 3 days, after that he went like a pine cone a little but didn't get worse, and he was still eating. But after another couple of days he got worse really quickly, when I came down in the morning he was rummaging through the plants like he always did and looked really happy, but by the afternoon he was being blown round the surface of the tank and couldn't swim. I took him out and put him in my hand as he was barely breathing, he didn't even seem to notice as I took him out of the water.

Eventually he stopped breathing so i took him outside and buried him - I don't like to say it but I hit him on the head to dispatch him before burying as I didn't want him to be buried alive and suffocate.

Even though i had him for 6 days i really miss him, i will try to upload some pics of him when he was alive.

Awwh this is really sad. :-( I think you did the right thing. He spent his last few days in a peaceful tank on his own, whereas in P@H, he would have slowly and painfully died. This is why i really hate P@H Fish as they just don't look after them :-( IMO You did the right thing :good:

he wasnt on his own, he was in with other peacefull fish that he liked so he had company

I think you did the right thing. I think all of us have been faced with this decision at least once. I am so sorry for your loss.
