Here is my betta boy, not sure on the type as his tail does not fit the tails I have seen. Its kinda ragged and was like that when he was born 7 weeks ago, he also has a long flowing beard too. I also had one the same prior to him who got caught up in the stoopid plastic plants I bought (now binned).

Looks like a veiltail with some serious injuries and possible fin rot. Bettas shouldn't be kept with plastic plants (as you've found out). Live or silk are best. Please treat this guy with antibiotics, salt, and really clean water to get his fins growing back. He's a beautiful red color.

Thanks for that, will go to petshop on Monday to get some bits for him. Will I have to take out the other fish while I treat him? Annoyed that they have sold two with tails the same.

Salt went in yesterday and today he had his first dose of the meta??? (sorry dyslexia has kicked in). Will see how he is in a week. Thank you again for the info.

Two diamond. 1 glowlight and two Buenos Aiers. I bought my little red man the way he was :(. The tetra complelty ignor him, he goes towards them they go other way. On day two of his treatment meds and day three of salt. Did water change before his meds yesterday.

I have plastic plants in with all of my bettas and have never had any problem with them.
