I have nothing truly interesting to say :rolleyes: except that I bought a banana plant last week and already it's sprouting two new leaves! woo hoo :-

Yes it is! I just started my tank 5 weeks ago and it finished cycling 4 days ago. I have been excited because I've never had a planted tank before and didn't want to start killing things, so when I saw new leaves sprouting I was happy. I have 2.5w. per gallon of t5s, fert tabs in the sand, and am dosing carbon everyday and adding Seachem Flourish 2 x week. Seems to be working well so far. It's just so darn pretty. :nod:

well sounds like you got it all sorted and going very well then :)! when i get the money i think im gonna try seachem flourish i think it'd work wonders along with my dirt substrate, i have 2 15w bulbs over about 60L of water, but i dont know how to work out watts per gallon, im planning on having a low tech low light set up with ferns and mosses and mostly plants that will grow on wood and rock along with plants that will grow well in dim and shady conditions :)

Well, I think I've got it sorted out, kinda, maybe!!! :lol:

I wish I could help you but I basically know nothing. Your idea sounds awesome; it will be very pretty. :) Two of my anubias are on driftwood and one is on a little rock. They may be simple, easy plants but they sure are purdy and have a nice shape.

Apolgises to OP for hijacking
60L=15.9Gal
2x15w=30w
30w ÷ 15.9 =1.8WPG
This is the set up i have.It's not exactly low light, more medium.
The WPG is a good pointer but not always accurate.
Depending on plant mass, lighting period, ferts, floating plants etc you may well get away it.
watch your plants, they tell you more about what's needed (eg.algae, melting or hopefully,healthy growth) than 'rules'
