I woke this morning to find one of my cichlids picking at something at the back of the tank, it was gradually pulled up into view bit by bit and I realized that it was a dead fish. As more of it came to view, i knew with a sinking feeling it was my lill baby, my tyre tack eel :-( It was my favourite fish, the one who learned to hand feed first, the one who would sit in my hands. I had it since it was 4" and as thin as a pencil lead. Looking at this horrible sight I knew something was wrong, I broke out the thest kit, Ammonia 0 nitrite 0 nitrate 15ppm pH 7.5/8 he had been living with my africans for 6 months so i cant see the pH getting him although i do wonder.....
Man i never thought id get this upset.............
It had got to 23 inchews as well adn never picked on anything

what could i get to replace him? I want another eel, but im not so sure now.....

So sorry to hear this :-( You must feel so sad. Perhaps he just got sick, not your fault. RIP li'll eel.

Now ive had chance to marshall my thoughts..............

I wish to acquire an odd ball for a 36" by 18" by 18" tank that would mix well with african cichlids, and before anyone points out that this tank was way too small, the eel was being prepped to move into a 6ft tank, i was waiting for it to cycle

It has to be an oddball, otherwise i may as well just go and buy more cichlids and whats the point if i cant have a touch of madmness? lol damn i loved that eel
