I got an angelfish this afternoon and it has died already, it has been hanging around on it's own all day and no fish have been near him and suddenly he has just dropped dead and i have no idea why?

Luckily the shop do a 6 day guarantee so i will be taking it back in the morning.

What size tank was it in? Most agnels are so heavily imbred they are too weak to survive.

It was in a 240 litre tank and it had loads of swimming space and everything, to be honest my wife said that it looked a bit dodgy when it was in the tank in the fish shop, do angelfish swim around alot or are they very active? because every since we first put the angelfish in the tank this afternoon it has been very still and has hardly moved much at all, i was just wondering if this is normal angelfish behaviour because it may have already been dying before we got it home.

At least i will get a refund, i will purchase another one, it was a lovely little 2-3cm angel that had lovely yellow, white and black colours, it was lovely and i am gutted.

Angels shouldn't be dodgy. They should swim gracfily and peacfully. Look at the fish and make sure it has good fins and color make sure it has no clamped fins or big bulging eye(s). If it is in good health and has no sinse of stress or diesease then get it. If there are dead fish in the tank and an apparent disease going through the fish don't get it.

EDIT: Spelling.

The angelfish couldn't have died because of water quality, i've just done an ammonia test and it is 0, also i have done a nitrite test and it is 0 and the ph is 7.0.

Consider getting a pair of angels?
I'm unsure from your sig if you have another angel or that's the one that died.

Make sure you get an active fish not the one that's not moving much and is therefore easier for the person to catch!
