A few days ago i noticed my angels side fin had a white cottony spot on it. He's had this b4 so i just did some water changes every two days for a week. That usually does the trick. Now where his fin is close to his body it looks red and swollen. So he has an infection. I put some silver in the tank today. I have plants in there so i don't want to use any harsh meds. the tank specs are fine, and he shares the tank with otos, clown loaches, and gups. maybe i could move him to a 10g (though he is a bit big for a 10g) and treat that tank with stronger meds. Any other ideas?

Definetly quarentine him, that way none of the other fish will get sick. Are there other angels that he may have fought with that may have bitten him by any chance?

Sounds like an infected bite to me too. Definitely quarantine and treat - the short term stress on the angel is worth getting the good meds on him and not infecting the rest of the tank.

he's the only angel in the tank and i doubt he was fighting with anyone. he does get skiddish sometimes when i start fiddling around with the plants so maybe he scraped himself up.

Do you guys have a suggestion for netting a fairly large angel? He seems too big to put in a net even though i have some big nets.

how big is he?

You could scoop him out with a bucket. Or buy a really big net?

I know that CFC has big fish, not that the angel is big like his, but he may have needed to move some, why not ask him?

good idea. i've been meaning to move my angels around anyway but have been putting it off cuz i'm stumped on how to go about it without traumatizing them.

how is the angel fish? Were you able to move him?

hi wrs,

i have not moved him yet. A woman was supposed to swing by my place and pick up the fish i have in my 10g but she never called me back. But the angel is looking better. There is less redness today and the white spots are smaller. So i think i will do another water change in there and add more silver.

I'll update to let you guys know if this method works.

Im glad he's getting a bit better then!
