I was at a LFS, while wondering around, I saw a Large Majestic Angel.
I should have asked how old it was, but i didn't.

#%!@

Its big ! Mine is in a 55. I would really love to keep him if I can.
I kinda feel every tank is different and maybe it could work. ? . ?

Is it just going to be to big for my tank ? Can it work??

this info might help you on your way

Majestic Angel, Blue Girdled Angel - Euxiphipops navarchus
Also known as: Navarchus, Blue-Girdled Angelfish
Reef Compatibility: Reef safe, with caution. May pick on corals, feather Dusters, and clam mantles, but has been kept with high success in reef type aquaria.
Maximum Size: The Euxiphipops navarchus grows up to 10 inches.
Sizes shipped: Sml 2-3 Inches, Med. 3.5-4 Inches, Lrg. 5-6.5 Inches.
Minimum Tank Size: The Majestic Angel prefers a tank of at least 75 gallons with plenty of places to hide & swim.
Diet: The Euxiphipops navarchus is an omnivore and likes to feed on marine algae, mysid shrimp, Spirulina, Sponges and other fresh or frozen seafoods. The diet of all larger angels consists heavily of sponge material, so it is recommended to feed "Angel Formula" by: Ocean Nutition, which has a very high sponge percentage mixed in the food
Level of care: The Euxiphipops navarchus is a medium maintenance fish.
Compatibility Notes: Generally peaceful towards other tank mates, but may act aggressively towards other Angels.
Water Conditions: Keep water quality high (SG 1.020 - 1.025, pH 8.1 - 8.4, Temp. 72 - 78° F).
Range: The Majestic Angel is commonly collected from the Indo-Pacific, and Indian Ocean.
General Notes: The Majestic Angel is a very attractive species that is high in demand, and does well in a fish only tank or a reef type aquarium, with other community type fish i.e. Butterflies, Tangs, Wrasse etc..

Well, i've got everything except the extra 15 gal.

He's a good fish, out alot, gets along with every one, leave the corals alone
and goreous. I've got a 15lb Tongan Slab that i've stood up and propped off the back of the tank to give fish hiding places.

I read somewhere if you provide a environment where fish feel safe, they'll be out in the open more.

I'll do whats right for the tank.... i just hope what i want is right.

A LFS is selling Lg. Majestics for $160 That they'd give me half after 3 days of quarentine.

If I need to make sure he gets into a bigger tank so be it.....what really drives me crazy...... how do i know he's going into a better environment????

Maybe it's some uninformed doof like i was..... :S

the only way is trial and error see how it goes if its stressed you will soon know about it :)

You magestic is still very small so for now you have some time to prepare a larger tank. But rest assured, yor angel will outgrow it. It will also get highly aggressive if its in cramped spaces so expect it to attack other fish if it feels its territory is in danger. 75 gallos is more realistic to be honest but even this wont be enough for a large angel.
Just to give you an idea what i mean by not large enough take a look at this...

This is my tank. Its 100 gallons.. this means its 120 US gallons.

Here is a picture of a blue ring angel in this tank. As you can see, its a monster and this tank is simply far too small forit.
The magestic will match this angel in size so expect even more cramped space with a smaller tank.

what you have to remember that nav got this big fellow for free as the shop he got it from did not order it or have the space for it, now if it would of staid at the fish shop then it would of been stuck in a 20 to 30 gallon tank which would of not been fair. as i remember nav has a 220gallon in progress so it wont be in a 100 gallon for long :)

I'm going to enjoy him a little longer. He hasn't out grown the environment yet.
My lfs is interested in him. Large Majestics are selling for $120, They'll give me half.... if i decided to keep him THAT long.

Your right, and blout is correct. I didnt order the fish, it came to the shop as an accidental shipment and the shop was ill equiped to house a fish of this size (as Aquascaper can verify as he visited the shop yesterday). Their tanks are only 18 inches and a fish this size simply would not fit.

I agreed to take the fish on as there simply was no one else with a tank that would be able to house it. In thruthfullness i didnt want it as my tank is still not fully recovered from the crash over christmas.

Sadly, the Bluering Died 2 days ago and shortly after this my Asfur angel died as well. :rip:

I will no longer be accepting any fish like this as its not fair to my system. Even though the larger tank is coming i really need to rebuild everything from scractch as i simply cannot get to the bottom of its problems. :/
