Hi, I got up this morning and I noticed that I had eggs all over my submersable filter. I think they must be the angels because they are the only egg layers I have in the tank, and one of the angels is right next to the filter and chases any other fish away, apart from the other angel. I have been told that you know when the eggs are fertile because they go from an amber colour to a white is this true??? I would really like to breed these fish, so any info would be great!!!

And should I take the eggs out or should I take the other fish out????

What other fish do you have in there?

how big is your tank?

and if they are tha angels they will defend there eggs well

but once there born i would seperat them in there own grow out tank

and also you need to find a place that will take 40-150 baby angels

what to feed your baby angels is brine srimp and finly crushed flakes

when bigger blood worms, tubaflx and flakes

Ok, I have noticed that alot of people have viewed my post but no one had replied. I would think this is because I have posted in the wrong forum, if so could someone please point me in the right direction as I would like info asap

I have a few mollies, platties, swords, guppies, cories and I have 1 tetra and 1 black widow, oh and I have one very big gourami(mmmmmmmmmmm nearlly forgot about him) I think I will just move all the other fish out of that tank and into another tank, so I can leave the angels as they are I don't want to risk upsetting them!!!

thanks for replying as no one else has

if this is the first time theyve spawned then its probably not worth all that effort yet.

they have to guard and fan the eggs like that for about a week and they could give up at anytime, especially cos this is the first time theyve done it by the sounds of it.

Angels need a lil practice but dont worry, theyll do this every few weeks so youll have time to prepare nxt time.

and it can be more like 200-500 fry that need rehoming so you really need to think about this carefully!

youll need atleast 200 Gallons jus to grow them too.

Hi,

I'm going to move your post to the New World Cichlids area, which is the right forum for Angels. You could also try doing a search on the forum. I'm sure you'll find lots of information there. Good luck!

What you should do is let them be, especially if it their first time. It will take 3 or 4 times for them to know what is right and wrong. you could help them later. Check the pinned topic on angels and breeding OK :)

200-500 fry seem like alot

that more like when there full grow.

A small spawn from a younger, smaller pair is usually in the 150 to 200 range. 400 eggs from a healthy pair is pretty normal, I know a breeder who was getting 700 at a time from a well conditioned healthy pair of silvers.
