I just acquired a tropical tank with pre-owned fish, one being a large ghost angel fish. the tank is fine and everything seemed fine until i bought some new fish. I added 6 female guppies, two male guppies and some neon tetras, as i have had them before and they were easy to look after. now i only have 3 females and 1 male guppy, and no neon tetra. i am now aware that mixing these small fishes with this angel stalker was a bad idea, but is there anything i can do to stop its killing spree apart from culling the angel myself.

as you probaby know buy now you added a lot of free swimming food to this angels tank. i bet he was over the moon to see all those tasty neons in a bite size packet...

angels are a cichlid and really you've learnt a good lesson early on. 'always research your fish before you buy them' this will tell what make good tankmates and how to look after your fish properly. many angels can be nasty, i dont like them myself

Thanks for all the advice, i'm gonna pop to the local lfs either today or tomorow and see if they'll do that...

whatever the case, the angel stalker has to go as i'm gonna be a grandma (lol) one of my guppies is officially up the duff- so i'll have to see what the lfs has to say :D

thanks again for the advice :)

went out on saturday night, when i returned the pregnant guppy was dead. the angel fish was pleasently swimming around as though nothing had happened.

still not been to the lfs, not had time nor the chance to, but i think the two remaining guppies are pregnant now so i have to act quick.

gonna get a maternity tank tomoz and find out about the angel fish....

wish me luck
