I have 3 female Crown Tails which i will post pictures of at some point, one of them is absolute bully (the dominent one) the other two ignore each other.
As sone as one of the other female bettas or the 5 venezualan corys i have in with them goes in to her space she chases them off.

She has decided to claim most of the top part of the tank as her own

Do you think buying more female bettas would sort this out or should i get her, her own tank.

There is room in the tank i have them in currently for more females as it is 95L,

Thanks

Tony

I would try more females first, at least another 2. When you buy them, bag up the other girls too, rearrange the tank a little, then when they are ready to go in, put them all in at once. This means any established territories will be gone and they all have equal chance.

May try adding more, she is bigger than the other 2 so if i add more they will be younger and smaller will this matter,

Yes it will. Is there no way you could get some which are a similar size?

Welcome to the forums :good:

The place where i get them from sell out quick so i would be buying Inch long fish she is around 2 inches which i believe is almost full grown, the dilemma is adding more and they get terrorized by her, she just chases i have never seen her bite or nip the other fish but it must still be stressful for them all.

could adding more females, and more hiding places help

I have brought her, her own tank its 6 gals just need to cycle it, will add more females to main tank once she has been moved out.

Is it right that if i move some filter media from my main tank this will speed up cycling £130 spent on a £3 fish lol. she does look nice though.

Yup, take some filter sponge from the cycled tank and replace it with new sponger - it will repopulate with bacteria real quick. Put the fish straight into the new tank with this media, unless you are adding ammonia for a fishless cycle. The bacteria need to be kept fed! Personally have only ever cycled once, and always use this seeding method for new tanks. Just keep an eye on the stats for the first week or so, you may have to do a water change or two :)
