my african keeps spitting out rocks

i have an african in a 5gal and he wont stop spitting rocks at the glass. hes in there cuz he eats all my other fish...even my big oscar and ful grown convicts

what type of african are we talking about? dont worry about the spitting out rocks thing all cichlids do that they love to dig.

im not entirely sure what type it is, it was given to me. its as big as my hand and has dots on the bottom of is back fin. strong oragne color

i dont have any pics of my fishes yet, i plan on getting them now that i have joined this forum tho,
as for the color he is a very vibrant orange, he dosent have a hump on his head tho, very slender body and his belly fades to a pastey white

Hi there!

Dont worry about cichlids digging, if u do u'll be worrying for a LONG time! Its perfectly normal behaviour for these guys. My African tank is littered with pits, caves and furniture thats been moved around, dug up or in one case buried under. They dig to build nests, search for food and most common of all because they like to cause aquascapers problems!
Its hard to pin a cichlid down by its look/body shape, i bought ten various alunacaras and i cant tell em apart!
