actually I got the tank (including LR, LS, filtration, lighting, heater, and lots of other stuff) off craigslist for $200 B) ... then I got more rock later on for free.

you might want to take out some of the powerheads while the clownfish is so small, he was really getting smacked around in that tank.

Your clowns will be fine with the flow

Water turnover is IMO one of the most important (overlooked) issus today

all of the powerheads have been set at minimal flow...if they were set to maximum, the flowrate would be around 700gph.

btw I found a really weird green thing on one of my rocks. it's shaped like a clam with its "mouth" open, and is has a bright, striped green color. I found it a week or so ago and it hasn't moved since (doesn't even move when I touch it). any suggestions on what this could be??

Do you have any idea what your flow rate is while they are set below maximum?

700gph would still be considered low flow at just over 12X...

I have 418GPH in a 16 which is over 26X turnover and i could still do with more.

Just a thought but i think your tank would benefit from more flow

no, not really

I'm still kind of hesitant to turn up my powerheads yet, because my clown looks like he's having a really hard time fighting against the current. He sits in a corner for most of his time

Whenever i see the fish in other aquariums and display tanks at fish stores, everything looks a lot more relaxed

I have a M1500 & a M820 which equates to 2320 gph in my temporary 50g, my LiveStock are used to such high flows as my 90g whcih was setup for a few years was set to around the same overall flow rate (around 45x total tank volume)

Your Flow rate IMO is way to low, Personally I would run less than 20x total tank volume
