These are pictures of my 55 gallon tank that I am working on plants with. Pretty new to the hobby but I have done a lot of reading on here and a few other sites. Hope to buy T5 lights when I have the money and move into some more exotic fish. Hope you enjoy the pictures.

Live plants are in the front left, back left, middle, and back right of the tanks. It contains 3 Sunset Platies, 3 Hi Fin Black Skirt Tetras, 3 Black Skirt Tetras, 1 Columbian Shark, 1 Mixed Guppy, and 5 Green Sailfin Mollies. Hoping to add some Neon Tetra to the mix as I think they will show up well with the blue rock especially once I add just a little bit of black to it so that there is more to root the plants in.

Please let me know what you think and any hints, tips, or suggestions you have.

Thanks.

great size tank to begin with. Very good to see it lightly stocked at first, gives you time to really think about your final stocking.

not a fan of the brighter gravels myself, but the tanks aesthetic is very much for your own enjoyment. If it pleases you, then it's money well spent!

if you are thinking of brighter lights for the plants you might want to consult the people in the Planted section of the forum. Increasing light strength is not an instant route to good plant health/growth, there are several factors to consider (plants are harder to keep than fish in my book!)

enjoy your new hobby!

I bought the tank used and that is the gravel that came with it. I had to add a little bit which is why there are two different blues. I was thinking of adding some black in there. Hoping the live plants will work out and then as they grow and I can replant clippings the fake ones will come out and then I can figure out what I really want to do with it. Next fish going in will probably be some Neons. I think they will look good with the blue rock.

Haha! I have the same color gravel as you do! I do want some of the starry night stuff though.

Great Job!

Cory Cats. Sorry for the blurry picture. They were hiding in the back and I only have my phone as camera. There is the face of one and a pretty blurry side shot of another.

I don't remember what I bought and I found a random plant tangled in with one of the other plants 2 weeks in. I have also added 1 more plant and finally one of my bulbs has come to life. That one is a water lily I know for sure.

This is the plant that I randomly found. Is actually doing quite well seeing as how it had one root and two 1" leaves when I found it.
