My 4 Footer. Finnaly Got A Pic

Again great setup Zoe, I'm trying to win the missus over too let me have a new tank ;) , would be looking a bit smaller though.

Lol i will swap my 3.5 foot tank for your 350l tank :hyper: :hyper: :hyper:

thanks

Zoe
lol, umm let me think about that for a mo  anyway i think we are too far away from each other, although 3.5 foot tank is the sort of size i would prob be going for

I have some pics of my setup in the pic section if you get time to have a look that would be great :good:

I like the wood on the left and the BGK.

Question though, are you sure it's 2' high? Fluval 4+ are 13" high, just wondering :)

oooh. i thought it was 2 foot high. i am crap with measurements. hubby says 1.5 foot. it sits deep into sand stand covers part of tank also.

Zoe.

I so want the rio 400, but i dont think floor would withstand the weight been told its about the weight of a mini car lol. Mind you hubby says if our floor boards can hold our neighbour who is prob about the same weight then maybe pmsfl. He is so cruel :hyper: :hyper: :hyper:

Might get her over to jump on floor for half a hour and see if it holds

What lfs was it next time im up at the edinbough office/workshop ill pop in and get one idea for fat next door invite her round for tea and put her chair where you want the tank if it holds the weight you know who can get a rio 400

cheers dane

It was Inside outside aquatics in haddington. if you go mention me, and that u have travelled all that way he might give you discount :hyper: Give me a shout next time your up this way i am 5 mins along the road from it.

Pmsfl. I would invite her round but i no longer talk to her. she got a big fat mouth on her lol. wont say anymore  (long story).

Will see if i can get a joiner out to have a look at floor to see if it is possible before i go out and buy it.

If the tank crosses floor boards aswell that will help spread the load across a number of weight bearing beams thus improving the probability the floor will hold...Also if you do pick one up, dont spose you would ge me one aswell :D

I don't think the weight is really a problem. Has anyone ever experienced the floor not being strong enough?

A Rio 400 when full will weigh approx 70 stones.

That sound a lot, but it's only the equivalent of 4 guys my size standing beside each other on the floor. I just don't see the floor having any problems with that.

I can imagine it being an issue with bigger tanks, but not really tanks that size.

I'm no expert and i may be wrong, but thats how i see it. Do we have any builders or structural engineers in the forum who could give a professional opinion?

edit: Zoe, Hugh is doing selected Tropica plants for £2.50 just now. Get yourself along there if you haven't already. :good:
