We set up a 10g fry/breeding tank a few days before we actually found any fry. It had an airstone and a whisper filter which we didn't know if we needed for a fry tank but when we use it for breeding we thought it would be useful to have a cycled filter for it... A patch of soft {fake} grass to hide in and under, a small rock pile for hiding and a terracotta pot for laying eggs on {for later}

We found 3 Platy fry and moved them into the tank. I put in brine shrimp one day and saw the biggest of the fry suck in some..but I never saw if the others ate anything. We also put in crushed flakes a few times...I cleaned out any food left behind after each time... But we found them dead today, all at the same time.

Is there anything I can do better for next time? I'm worried about the filter in there with the fry, there was a lot of water movement...

For livebearer's I use merely a bubble filter, hooked up to a small air pump. A Small heater at most. At the fry stage all fish are very susceptible to sudden temperature/Water changes. Also, Being that you only used a mature filter in a tank that had been only set up for a few days, probably shocked their systems due to ammonia/nitrite/nitrate if there was any developed. I'de recommend giving the tank some time for the water to mature before putting fry in it. If you keep your fry in the tank with the adults, Lots of plants will give them a spot to hide and they will grow and feed off of what the adults don't eat.
