My current setup is a Canon Digital Rebel w/a 50mm 1.8 lensWhat camera do you use?
DOF depends on the aperature, the higher the aperature (lower number) the less depth you get everything else blurs. Mine is a 1.8 lens, giving me EXTREMELY shallow DOF, blurring everything else. You gotta be right on when you shoot, or you lose parts of fish. (example: look at the fish's tail in pic #1).How do you get the field of depth (blurred background etc) so well? Is it just because the camera is extremely nice and knows what you are trying to focus on? :
Yes, I shoot in RAW format, so the pics need to be put through photoshop to process RAW. I dont MAKE them look this way, but adjust the shadows/contrast/.... to make them look like they really look. Read up on RAW format to really understand it.Do you edit the photos at all (apart from the text)?

I never use zoom. The lens I use does not even zoom (it's a fixed length lens), that gives me about a 1.5 foot minimum shooting distance which is perfect for fish tanks.bunjiweb said:I think i just need a better camera with an optical zoom, the camera you have is ££££ so no chance of getting anything that good![]()
