Hey, ive just seen a video on youtube showing bettas being kept in "beanie baby boxes"
there are about 50 bettas in individual boxes, which are 20cm x 10cm x 10cm each.

i was just wondering the best way of doing this, and if heaters and filter really are needed.
i would like to get into breeding bettas, so if anyone could help me with storage solutions it would be appreciated..

Are you looking to use them for separating fry into if you were to breed?

Have you got a pic of one. Don't think I've ever seen any :good:

these are used for outgrows in general and not really for keeping the breeding pairs, so fine for fry, ideally yes heat the room as this keeps the temp good but then if you actually spend most of the time on that room it is unbearable.

also i just looked at the link, can you see the amount of fin damage on the long fins? really isnt good to have them constantly flaring at each other at it will eventually make their tails rip.

yeah i was thinking about this. could make some dividers

i managed to get a heater from hong kong for £6 including postage, so if i bulk ordered it should be cheaper.

my room is hot through summer and cold in the winter, i'd say 28c in summer, when its hot, and about 14c in winter. i dont know how i bare it lol!

as for filters, could i just do a small water change each day instead of having them?

In that size you'd need to be doing 100% water change every day. We do 2 a day at the moment on our juvies. It's amazing how quickly the amonia spikes  But they look good :good:

yeah hawkins, the 100% water changes are a nightmare but well worth it.

they look like beanie boxes to me. You can get critter keepers for about a fiver. I use them and keep paper in between each one or the boys get stressed flaring. I remove the paper every few days so they can have a little flare. :good:

beanie boxes are quite expensive at the moment due to their multi use function.

There are a couple on ebay at the moment starting at 99p but then postage is £3.00 so doesn't make them cheap at all
