Yer thanks

The diet sounds fine. What size is the tank (massive, I hope for a potentially three foot fish....), how long has it been set-up and what filtration are you running?

How often and how large are your water changes and how are you cleaning the filter? Any test results? Is your local water hard or soft?

Mate everything is fine i have been in the fish game for a long time,

Mate everything is fine i have been in the fish game for a long time, ammonia low ,nitrate low ,nitrite sweet ph sweet do 15% water change every 2nd week, fluval 405, been setup for 4 years it gets a good full clean every year if needed. Besides that, i think he will be sweet cause if he wants to eat them they are there!

ammonia and nitrite need to be zero. Anything above that (even 'low') and it can cause harm to the fish.

As Fluttermouth said, these are BIG fish - commonly getting to 2-3 feet (according to what I have just read) so do you have a big enough tank for it's adult size?

I would want to be doing larger water changes than that; between 25 and 50% weekly, dependent on stocking, is what most of us do. They are probably ambush predators, so will almost certainly be eating only once or twice a week.

How big is your tank?

4ft X 1.5 X 1.5 obvisoly i no if he gets to big ill give him to the pet shop. dont foget guys he is only 10cm so he is still a pup, doing a 15% water change today and cleaning out sponges in filter and the filter wool!

cheers

There is no "IF", he will simply GET BIG. If he doesnt its becuase (you may know having been in the fish game a long time) fish secrete a growth inhibiting hormone that will stunt the growth and development..

Pretty harsh really.....

do you already know a pet shop that will happily rehome such a tank busting fish?

Best to try and find a home for him now so that his health is not affected in the long-run
