Well, summer's coming, and my water's getting murkier every day.

The tank's getting more sunlight every day, and the temperature is getting hotter also (thought not alot, I live in Quebec, not Florida...)

Plants have been growing faster too...

Whats causing this andd how do I solve it. I've added some more carbon to my aquaclear, made more frequent water changes, but water still looks like I took it from a lake.

What colour is the cloudiness? If it's green then it will be green water - a free floating algae bloom caused by the sunlight. I have a black sheet attached to the side of my tank blocking sunlight that comes through my living room window.

If the cloudiness is white then it sounds like a bacterial bloom of some sort.

No, its more of a green-ish ''natural-looking'' water color! I'll try to block some more sunlight too!

I had a whitish bloom in 1 of my tanks, found the cause to be heavy handedness on the water conditioning front

RYO: please elaborate. i get a white cloudy effect for about 4 hours after water changes in my 12G. it doesn't happen in my 40G. you may have solved the mystery as it'd be more diluted in the 40 i guess.

what causes it and what conditioner do you use?

algae ! :) hehehe

can anybody answer this... i always knew that during the summer, tanks are more succeptible to algae... is this because of the heat ? or just because the sun is a bit brighter ? :? dunno

I found conditioners that contain herbal extracts or aloe vera to be the worse. I had problems with the nutra fin myself but that was down to the usual not reading the bottle  when used to the stated dose it worked fine :p
