Is there any cure? I need a cure dammit! I just bought my third tank and biggest so far. This one.
Anyone got any ideas on some stocking? I believe it'll come already cycled although I am not actually sure. Won't know until tomorrow or Tuesday for sure. My son would like something sharklike. Is there something that can live in a tank like this that isn't too aggressive but looks like a mini shark. Bless him he loves sharks (He's a special needs child) and it might be nice to find one that can live in it with some other more colourful fish. Any and all ideas welcomed. :D

There are a few known cures. One is lack of money, another is a lack of space. The third and often most compelling is when a spouse or family member says "no more." :p

Lack of money is gonna set in very soon for sure. And space is now a sure problem.
Being a divorced ladieeeee these past 5 years, and with kids too young to have a say, that part is not a problem. B)
Does no one have any ideas for the tank residents? :/

by the size of it(how many gal is it exactly) u might be able to get a RTBS, rainbow, or albino rainbow, but only one.....if u provide enough hiding places and the other fish r slightly aggressive u might be able to get away with it.....i rainbow shark, a few gouramis, and a 7+ tiger barbs would look nice if the tank is large enough and there r plenty of plants and hiding places and such....be sure to leave the middle open for the tbs if u go with some of those

In gallons I'm going by my estimation of just under 60usg. So not a bad size. I have no problem with fairly aggressive fish or with feeding live food if they need it. I have plenty of slate over from the 32g I used some in I can build caves with and I shall plant plenty of live plants a.s.a.p.

ok lets see....since its a 60 gal....i would go with 1 shark(i prefer rainbow) 3 gouramis(i like the gold ones or the 3 spot.....i believe u should keep 1 male for 2 female) and 10 tiger barbs......if u go with these u will be a little under the 1" rule(if i counted right) so u can add another type of fish if would like....as for the shark mine likes to hide between tight spaces and loves his frozen blood worms.....good luck....would like to see a pic when its all done :D

PS after getting 9 tanks my cure was the time it takes to clean them all out. Ooooph no more (at the moment).

I am fortunate to have all three problems going against me at the moment so I can't get more (besides, one of my 10g's is waiting for shellies to stock it with) but there were some strong temptations yesterday to go get a fully set up 75g combo at one of the LFS'. :p

9?! Blimey that is alot and I'm feeling guilty with 3.
Being that I lost my last rat to old age recently (May she rest in peace bless her.) I had extra room where the cage used to be. At least that's my excuse.
Yes I'd imagine cleaning keeps you very busy.
I'm visiting a rather wonderful fs (not local) in a few weeks so I may keep the tank ticking over with ammonia until then. My locals really don't stock anything much beyond the readily available community types and a few more aggressive but popular fish. Certainly no shark types. Although tiger barbs I can get locally so maybe they'd keep the tank going to start with.
No, I won't be getting anymore....except possibly a small tank for a betta that my daughter has requested.

even lack of money isn't a cure. damn you credit cards lol

space or lack of space is the only cure i know of or of course living under your parents roof when they are not keen on more than 1 tank

I peaked at 9 but am down to 6 tanks now...

I wouldnt go for rainbow sharks, they can be quite aggressive when kept singly. Red Tailed Black Sharks are much better behaved in a large tank.

Depending what you want to do with the tank you could maybe go for 3 silver sharks? There are also types of barb which are quite shark-like.

It is probably better to go for less fish that are bigger, that way he will be able to distinguish them better.

A suggested stocking would be....

3 x Silver Sharks,
3 x Pimelodus pictus catfish
2-3 x Kribensis (try and get 2 females) or angels?
Then maybe a group of smaller fish, maybe zebra or dwarf chain loaches, or possibly a large type of tetra or barb?

If it is 280 Litres you could fit more as long as the filtration is adequate, but the above is just an idea!

The other thing I would mention is clean the tank out THOROUGHLY and start from scratch. Maybe change the gravel for new stuff and clean down the decor if you decide to use anything that it comes with.

I've got about 12, and it seems to get worse the more you get. You end up with babies all over the place, and then need more tanks:)

I've read lack of space doesn't do it....

Personally experiencing it lol. I can get a futon instead of a couch. I can do without the bookshelf in the living room. I can build a tank in the kitchen cover it over once in a while and call it the table :nerd: (okay actually I can't do the last one right now because my ball python cage is up there and I'm afraid to set it on the floor because it's glass....but if I get a tank stand for that....)

 I see mts is a serious condition that affects many members here. You're all bad influences on me you realise.
Yes I had considered starting the tank from scratch bunjiweb. I shall know once it arrives this afternoon what I feel needs doing. I don't mind doing a fishless cycle with it. Gives me time to save some money for the fish!
Not sure I want pictus cats in it tho as I'll be having them in my 32g once that fishless cycle is complete (a tank I started from scratch with new filter etc a short while back).
Yes I agree less fish but bigger would be great for him. He recently had another assessment at Great Ormond Street and his age mentally is more that of a 4-6 yr old. He turned 10 last month. He adores the shark they have in the lfs so I may try and find out about that one and research it. I'm not sure what it is having only looked at it a few times in the store. Once I know I shall let everyone here know and see what you guys think and if it'd work or not. :)
Yes one more tank for a betta is as far as I'm gonna go tho now, except for getting a smallish quarantine tank very soon. But that doesn't count. ;)
Hugs,
P.
