Hi, I have a few things going on in my tank and don't know what to do. I have platys and an algae eater and bottom feeder. I started treating for ick with NOX-ICH. I ended the three day dosing yesterday. Now I notice some of them look a little rough around the edges some fins are choppy and one has blurred eyes. I still see at least one white speck on one of the tail fins on one fish as well. One of the fish (a rainbow platy) mostly stays sitting at the bottom of the tank but when he moves around he is very fast and wiggling around funny. Does anyone know what is going on here? Am I going to lose them all? I have had nothing but bad luck with my fish and I don't know what I am doing wrong! It's just a 10g tank. I just got a 45g tank that I am afraid to even put fish in because I might kill them too. Thank you for your time!

I took a sample to the fish store and learned I am high in nitrates so I got AmQuel Plus as suggested by the fish store owner. Used it last night and today they look better. My other question is I noticed my fry (Only one of them) has a small white spot on its back fin. Can I give them ick medicine? That is what it looks like to me. They are very small and only about a week old. Will it hurt them to medicate them? Thanks!

Best thing for high nitrates is water changes.
How big is the spot on the fin.

It is very small as the fry are so small. I would say about the size of the period at the end of a sentance. I only see it on the orange fry not on any other fry (I have only one that is orange, the rest are a grey color) They were about a week on Friday. I also noticed I am down to 10 fish when I did have 12 of them the other day. I see one dead one in the tank, can't find the other one but it could just be hiding. It's hard to count when they are moving around so fast!

If it look like a grain of salt I would treat for whitespot, but less than half dose with fry.
Raise temp to 30c and increase aeration in the tank.

Good bless them.
