ok so i bought a new tank in december and only got it last week! a long story but thats not what this post is about

my lfs were holding some fish for me for that tank some pseudotropheus lanisticola, but to my horror when i went to pick them up my lfs had shut down :-(

anyway that left with my brand spanking new tank fully cycled with no fish to live in it! my multies were starting too look a little crowded in there 120 litres tank so now they have a 245 litre tank :D. the tank is really strange measurements 33" x 22" x 20 designed to sit nicley underneath my mbuna tank.

the multies have only been in there new tank for around an hour so im trying to not startle them to much but here is a picture taken from far away and then cropped a bit because it was rubbish

only question i have really is, now i have a far bigger tank i beleive there is room for some different tank mates, i plan on adding a BN plec, but i dont want to add anything that is going to view multie fry as food i know i know that fish probably does not exist but hell it cant hurt to ask can it!

Great looking tank, bet your Multies will love their new home!
I wouldn't personally add a BN as they prefer a PH no higher than about 7.2 whereas Multies prefer a PH of about 8.6.
I'm not entirely sure what you could add that wouldn't eat the fry. Even though the parents are extremely protective, they may be no match for a bigger fish. If your plan is to breed them, then you may be just as well keeping the Multies on their own.

i dont really have an concerns about a a bn plec being added as i already have 6 living in ph of 8.3 spread over 3 other tanks so i know they can handle it. hell 2 of them are full grown so it has not done them any harm

i know a fish that wont eat fry is asking alot and to be honest i dont beleive such a fish exists, but it cant hurt to ask.

this morning the multies have all spread out claiming different areas so i exspect them to now double in numbers over the next few months :D

the thing with multies is unless you want to breed them then there really is no point in having them because breeding and digging is what they do best!! they put rabbits to shame

no doubt over the long weekend they will decide my careful aquascaping needs re-doing

i know what your saying but most bn's are captive bred now anyway so there far more adaptable and like i said 2 of mine are a good 6" in 8.3 ph

i havn't decided anything yet

still no other fish that dont eat fry!

not really what im going for, i was thinking more like another tanganyika cichlid :good:
