I have seen some pics of multies and am starting to read up on them. When i am done upgrading my tank I am eventually going to have the small one in the kitchen and so looking for some small colourful fish to keep.

Are multies hard to look after and would they be ok an my small tank?

They are easy to keep. People keep them in 5 gallons, so I don't see a 20g tnak being a problem. But they need an INSANE amount of small shells.

What kind of shells and where do I get them from?
It's not going to be for at least a few months but I want to research what I'm having before the tank is ready.
I was going to leave water in when I move it, but it has gravel and I want sand. So I will get a huge bucket and put water in there with the filter to keep the bacteria going.

You can get escargot shells online or at a gourmet food store, aim for at least 3 shells per fish. In a 20gal you could go with 2 trios (1m/2f) as long as you kinda separate the tank with rocks/plants so the males are out of sight of each other.

Just make sure you dose with ammonia to keep your bene bac alive while your tank is empty. :good:
