Hey,
Today i was given a 6 inch male pink convict, but no female( grr), i asked around at my fav lfs( superpets), and i was wondering if i could seperate the female from the original male, have him keeping care of the babies, adn get the pink con to pair off with my female and they have babies. And this has to keep happenign in a continious cycle. Well i set up a 10g( all i have), adn put the male in there, adn then 30 mins later added the female. They paired off, i think, as there has been no fighting, nothing but peaceful interaction. The other male has kept taking care of the fry( thank godness). But i was wondering, would the old male still accept the female, when the cycle starts over?

2 pink cons in a ten gallon? its already overstocked

Not it isnt. The rule of thumb is 1 inch per gallon. I have a 6 inch pink male, and a 1 to 2 inch female( she is a black con). Add those togehter, you get roughly 8 inches( 8 gallons of space). Some people do say that more aggressive fish, should get 2 gallons a inch, but they are a pair, so no fighting, adn their is a flower pot for hiding spots, and a piece of slate, and a homeade filter. So, in theory, they should be fine( no probs yet), my female is already starting to color up! But, do you think that the old male will accept her again?

im saying when there full grown u always use that rule of thumb with the max size of the fish not the current size

True, but i did not plan on keeping them in there for forever! I moved the female back( i aclimated her), becasue im not sure what the water readings are on that tank, and i would hate to lose her. The old male just swam by her, rub up against her, adn let her take care of the fry!

I had a different idea. I decided that i would use the 10 as a grow out when my babies get big enough to be seperated. I also, put the male in with the pair adn i bought him a female, adn i put some new things in the tnak, in hope's that they will pair off, breed, and protect the new slice of territory i gave them. This just happend, so i will let whoever is reading/posting on here what happens probably tommorow after school.

Well, woke up this morning to find that they nearly killed my female( she is jsut a tiny little thing). I put her in the 10g with some Quick Cure, adn some Aquarium salt. I am hopeing that when she gets better i can trade her as i cant seem to have a convict that can hold their own against the other pair.
The male loged himself in some pvc pipe, so i took him out and brought him to my teacher, and we devised a plan to put the male inj 1 of his 3 55 gallon buckets. One has Tilapia in it, andother has alot of plastic amterial that is used for bio-filtration, adn the thrid, he puts plants in little slots, and they float. All the tanks are all connected, so that they have very good quality water. I gave my teacher an extra female, adn she paired off in first hour wiht a small black convict male. So now i have the pair alon again, with all theri fry. I guess i will never learn!!!!!!!
