Some people love them, some people hate them.

I am considering getting one for my 10g to burrow in my sand substrate and keep it nice and loose.

I asked the only LFS in the area that would know anything about them, and they say that the pest snails they have (which do have the conical type shell) are MTS, and they would be happy to give me one if I come in and ask, and they see one that's easy to grab.

My question is... aren't they nocturnal snails? I have seen plenty of their pest snails on their tanks' glass... despite the tanks all being lit up... Are they really MTS?

And if I get ONE, will my tank be overrun?

There is a gap in my tank lid... would the snail(s) try to escape?

Thank you for any and all help answering my questions :good:

Yes they are pest, and mostly nocturnal, but some do come out at night. And you only need one to start with and then you will end up with a bunch later. I remember I did this one, because of the same reason, i was getting sand and wanted to keep the sand from spoiling. I would recommend against getting these pest. The only way i got rid of them was to completely change my substrate and decorations. I wanted them at first, but now i absolutely hate them.

also, they probably wont escape.
