My silver molly died today after spiraling around for the last few hours. he is in a 54 litre tank with 2 boseman rainbows, 1 platy, 2 guppies, 2 otto's and 2 harlequns.

she had no phyical symptoms, nothing wrong that i could identify in terms of infections and the like, he was acting normal until yesterday , i first notced somehting was wrong yesterday morning when she was low to the gravel. i did my weekly water change of 25% yesterday, and i have tested the water

ph- 7.6
temperature- 26 celcius
nitrate-2-3
ammonia-0
nitrite-0

the water is fine, if it helps he died with his mouth open

does anyone know why though??

help apreciated

sorry to hear about your mollie, its very hard to diagnose what may have caused her death with no obvious symptoms, like humans fish too can die suddently. could the mollie have been startled & banged into something? or swallowed something like a bit of gravel? or possibly have been attacked-in my experience mollies are bits of greedy guts, we used to keep mollies a couple of years ago ( & bred them & raised the fry) but we found they never did that well in freshwater despite the fact they can live in it they are actually suited to brackish water better and do much better in brackish ( very slight salt content). ours too also all ended up dying over a few years and most of them suffered from the 'shimmies ' before. ( started making a shaking movement) very common in this type of fish who are in freshwater. we stopped keeping mollies much as we loved them because as we learned more about fishkeeping we realised as we were going to keep our tank fw ( we have loaches & catfish - intolerant to brackish water), and we didnt want to keep fish in what was not the perfect conditions for the species. are all your other fish fine??
sorry i cant be of more help.:(

Not enough to go on.
Fish can spiral when dying.
Just keep a look out for when your fish go to the toilet.
R.I.P.
