Mp3 Players, Good Or Bad?

I like holding the hard copy of a CD, because I'm rubbish at backing up my computer and often lose anything I've downloaded!

I tend not to give any CDs away, even if I'm at the point of hating the album...I'm too sentimental to get rid!

The other problem with iTunes. You buy them, d/l them and upload them to your player, right, well. Say they get deleted from both your iPod AND computer (a longshot, I know). Then youre out the money! I personnally feel that iPods are over rated, you can get cheaper mp3 players with more memory for less money. I still prefer CDs tho....

My first ever vinyl album was Mickey Mouse Disco. I don't have that anymore or a record player for that matter. Nowadays I DL my music and transfer it to my iPod (60GB). My problem is that I usually only like one song per CD so its a waste to buy it...hence DL it.

It was fantastic playing 12 inch records at 6 inch speed.....

I like mp3 players, but I hate Ipods (Trust me, I have my reasons)

I prefer my mp3 player (Sony walkman bean) to my old cd player (sony walkman  ) simply because it is easier to carry, and I can listen to all of my favorite songs without having to change a cd. The quality of the sound is the same, it just comes down to quantity and portability ;)
All I need from my music is for it to sound good and come with me :p

I must say though, if you aren't good with a computer, stay away from mp3 players, far away :D

i have to say though, i have a 30gb video iPod and its the best thing that ever happened to my music
I have 1800 songs atm in something the size of your palm, truley remarkable and works fine :)

I have over 300 CD's and 60 or 70 vinyl records. I love the vinyl because it has a vintage feel to it which I expect will happen with my CD's when My kids get hold of them. I can't get rid of them.

That being said, I bought an iPod nano (4 gb) last year when they came out and I love it just because I can carry over 1000 songs with me to school, all in a player that fits in the coin pocket in my jeans. I love it and I suppose that it'll be the iPod that will evoke the nostalgia a few yeas down the road.

(I just found this forum and havegone a bit crazy posting here, music for me is better than fishtanks anyday.)

It is the music that transforms me, lifts me, mellows me out, saddens me, and causes me to emote.

The CDs have become mementos, to me. Collectors items, in a way. I only buy CDs from albums that I feel I can't live without.

I have a 60g video iPod, and in my opinion it's quite well made, and it definately sees heavy use with me. I have just over 18G worth of music on my ipod, at the moment, in many different langauges. People often wonder how a person can have so many... but it isn't as if I spend my entire life chained to it, experiencing one transformative moment after another. Sometimes you just want to listen to something fun (I don't think I've met anyone who's had their life changed by the Underwater World Theme from Super Mario Brothers).

When it comes to art, I get all twitchy when people start talking about how one medium is better than the other. Apples and oranges. Fruit is fruit, you know?

You may be attached to your vinyl, or your cds, or your tape casettes, or your 8 tracks, but generations after you will have something else in their hands, and they'll wonder about the future, too.
