Hi folks!

I've just bought a second hand tank from someone. It's a foot bigger than my existing one (going from 3ft to 4ft [42US/35UK Gal] ).

I'm trying to work out the best way to move everything. The old 3ft wont be kept, so it's all moving into the 4ft - Equipment, filter (and media)
heater, plants, gravel and of course, the fish.

I have a few questions to ask you guys:

The space where my tank sits is only big enough for one. So, I need to move the existing 3ft before I can put up the new 4ft. It's up on a work
top - what's the best way to do this? I don't have enough containers/buckets to hold all the water form the old tank to put into the new tank.

How on earth am I going to drain the 3ft enough to lift it off the work top, get the new 4ft up and fill it with the original tank water?

Considering all the existing features/plants/gravel from the old tank is going into the new tank, is there anything in particular i should take special care
with when i get the new tank up and running with the fish in it? Any levels in particular that are prone to change?

The new tank is the 4ft 42US gal. Is one Fluval 3plus sufficient or should I maybe use 2? ( I have 2 )
The heater I have is 150W - is this sufficient? (The new tank has a heater but I don't know its rating)

Basically, this new 4ft tank will be with us for a while and I don't intend to change much when it's up and running - it'll be a 'completed' community
tank so I'd like to have everything sorted in it when we set it up.

Any pointers and hints would be great folks - thanks in advance!

Water:
Get plenty of big buckets and siphon the water into them.

As for the gravel, I would buy some new stuff, exactly the same as the stuff in the 3ft or different if you so wish...
My reason being is that it'll kick up a load of muck etc in the 3ft tank, and they fishies won't like it!

Also erm you really should get something to put the fish in before transfering the water. Or else there will be some fish in a tank with no water either way...

Depending on what fish you have I'd put them in a tank, glass or plastic doesn't matter

Or in total, just put the new 4ft tank in another area.
Because the way you are doing it, you'll run into alot of trouble...
