I keep my 40 gal at my parents house while i live in an apartment where i am not allowed to keep a fish tank.

My parents have put their house up for sale as they plan to upgrade. Tank needs to come down. The tank is very awkward to handle so it must be completely drained in order to move it. The thing is i have no means of supporting the fish while it is down. It may also be several weeks before i am able to resurrect the tank.

WHat do you guys do when it comes time to move? SHould I just call it quits on this one particular setup and start giving away my fish and plants to locals or LFS's??

I've felt that i've learned a lot about plant and fish care in the last year that i would like to set up a large 75-125 gallon heavily planted tank next. Maybe this is the time to do it.

I'd fill it with 150 neon tetras and a couple angels :)

Yeah, but i have never heard of anyone actually seeing an angel eat a neon in captivity.

I figure the presence of a couple angles would keep the neons schooled in the large aquarium.

The angles will eat them, I'm sure of it.

My boss put to small pleco's in his 75 gallon with his pair of angles and they were both killed within a day.

Neons would be a nice snack for them.

It wasn't a neon in my case, but I found my angel with a glo lite tetra tail sticking out of his mouth. They are bigger than neons, and he ate them with ease. I wouldn't doubt for a second you would lose the neons to the angels. So slowly it would take you a while to notice it. One or two a day. But believe me they will eat them given the chance.

i live in a apartment myself, until mid august when i move...it was said that i wasnt allowed to keep fish....you think i cared? and no one noticed or cared :)

My tenancy agreement also specifies "no pets", but I asked them about a fish tank and they said it was fine. It's the dirty stinking hairy pets like dogs they don't like.

sure the angels may keep them schooling but they only school when they are scared, surely its not good to stress them out like that intentionally

Ok no angels in my tank that i haven't even set up yet.

Back to the moving prob. How do you guys deal with moves?

Do you have a LFS that knows you well? If so, they might be willing to "babysit" your fish for you until you get the tank set back up... My LFS has done this for loyal customers on more than one occasion
