Hi -

I am moving my fish over from a 29 gallon to a 55. I have moved all except for my pleco. My pleco is about 3". Does it need to acclimate to the new temperature of the tank like I did for my other fish or can he handle the move without being acclimated? He is kind of big to put in a container and set in the new aquarium. -_-

Thanks - Jeannine

Hi,

Yes, acclimitisation is a good idea. Put him in a bucket with water from the tank he is in just now. Gently add a little water from the new tank, wait for 5 mins, and repeat. Every so often, empty some of the water out the bucket. Continue this until the water in the bucket is made up almost entirely of water from the new tank. This way, the water your pleco is in will slowly become more like the water from the new tank, until it is almost entirely water from the new tank, at which point you can put him in.

Hope that helps you.

Cheers :good:
