I Harth Darth
So long story short, it's still undetermined whether or not I'll be living with my grandparents for the summer and keeping my Marineland job, or moving back home to Fort Erie and finding two part-time jobs and living with the parents.
This is all to be figured out on Thursday, April 28th.
I have to move out of residence Friday, April 29th.
My issue is that I'm concerned about the health and welfare of my fish during this move.
Should my grandparents still be undecided as to whether or not I'm living with them on Friday, then I have to move home to Fort Erie on Friday. This is a half hour car trip with 5 bettas and the entire stock contents of my 15 gallon.
Then we'll decide Saturday where I'm living, and should I be living with the grandparents, I along with the fish will move back up here [another half hour car trip] and into my grandparents' house.
It's not the bettas I'm worried about so much as the fish in the 15g. I have German Blue Rams, cories, neons, and otos. The 15g would be completely devoid of water and I'd keep the filter media wet to ensure the bacteria doesn't die off, but it's that the tank would be set up twice in 3 days. As neons and otos tend to be sensitive [as well as the Rams, but not as much], this is what worries me.
Think they'll live?
I'm trying to prove to the grandparents that we NEED to have this solved by Friday so that the fish only have to move once. Moving my stuff is fine, it's all in storage bins. But moving my fish around twice is not something I want to do, as I had to do it for Christmas. That and the pH and other water params are different in Fort Erie compared to here, and I don't want to shock the fish with that.
AGH, it's so much work!
My mom volunteered to take care of the fish all summer, but that is not something I want to do. That's 5 100% weekly changes for the bettas, 25% weekly for the big tank, plant care, special feeding, filter media replacement.. It's a lot of work for her given she hasn't taken care of fish in 8 years. And since they're my responsibility, I don't want to just abandon them for 4 months. Especially since they are to move into my new 34g at the grandparents' house!
Someone give me advice before I lose it.
Oh, did I mention that they sprung this on me at 4pm, and I have an exam at 7pm? I'm pulling my hair out right now..
