I am planning to move house in the next few months but am unsure how to go about moving my tank + fish to my new house.

I currently only have about half the fish the tank can hold so should I carry on adding new fish to fill it up or should I hold back until after Ive moved?

My tank size is 125l and I currently have 2 gold gourami's, 5 tiger barb's and 4 red swordtails.

Thanks

Well I would hold back until you move to stock the tank.
When I moved house and the last time was my third, the method I used was quite simple.
I drained off some of the water from my tank into a large plastic tub, similar to the garden "humpers". Placed all my fish in there. Remember you don't need gallons of water, you just need enough for the fish to swim in, it's the surface area that is crucial. Then I drained the rest of the tank until I was left with just the gravel etc. I removed all that into another bucket and then moved everything out into the van and when I got to my new house, the first thing I did was to set up the tank. Using the "dirty gravel I gently replaced everything back into the tank and filled it with dechloronated tapwater about 1/2 way. Let everything settle for a few hours and the topped the tank up with the mature water from my bucket and returned the fish. If necessary top up to the top of the tank with more tap water. It's like doing a 50% water change.
I'm sure you will have other members giving you plenty of advice on this one as there are many ways that fishkeepers move their tanks. It not to say any method is right or wrong, it just what works for them.

thats how i did it when i moved mine. handily i could get a hold of a huge bucket with a clip on seaing lid and a huge bag. so i put the bag int he bucket and sealed in my fishes and water
