Moving House

right, the time has come, and tomorow i will be moving house, now someone tell me if this plan wont work or if they can forsee any problems

1. move all the stuff out of my house, leaving my fish tank till the very last
2. get my fish into bags for the journey
3. syphon off near all my water save for approx 20-30%(as my tank always get its regular change on a saturday normally, ill just do it a day early)
4. place all syphoned water into a large bucket with lid along with media substrate
5. leave all substrate in tank while it is being moved
6. once moved, place 50% of water in large bucket back into tank and leave to settle
7. now do my 20-30% water change with my gravel hoover
8. place remainder of bucketed water back into tank
9. place bags with fish into tank for them to acclimitise back to temp of tankw ater
10. after 15 mins return fish into tank
11. place new dechlorinated water into tank


now, can anyone see any potential problems with that situation?

i know the gravel holds a lot of bacteria which is why i want to add half the water back in and let it settle before i do my water change

Sounds good to me. The only suggestion I would give is this, if you have an air pump, take off the stone (or what ever you are using on the end) and use the hose to add oxygen to the bags before you close them up. Good luck!

i dont have an air pump but i reckon the whole process will take less than an 1½ hours

well folks, nearly 24 hours alater and the fish are finally starting to settle down again and are acting perfectly normal

yeah deffo, still unpacking a lot of stuff and deciding where the new tank is going to go, and i also dont like where the old tank is situated but there will be a pictoral diary for sure, ill send a PM on when ive got enough pics and that
