Moving House With Fish

Hi all, I have a 40 gallon tank which I need to take with me when I move house.
It is not a long movwe - about an hour away around the M25 to Middlesex.

Has anyone done this sort of move before and what is the best way to do it?
Obviously I can't move the tank with all the water in and it can't be transported full as it would end up messy as we go round each corner!

What is the best thing to do with the water?

What is the best thing to do with the fish?
